Note on the second component

This blend is commonly listed with TB-500 as its second component. TB-500 is a trade designation applied to two chemically distinct materials: an acetylated seven-residue fragment of approximately 888.5 g/mol, and the full-length 43-residue protein of approximately 4,963 g/mol. They differ in mass by more than fivefold and only the full-length protein contains a methionine.

The component in this blend is the full-length protein. The laboratory names it as thymosin beta-4 on the certificate below and the mass trace shows a multi-state charge ladder consistent with a molecule of that size. Our standalone TB-500 listing is the fragment; the two products are not interchangeable and results obtained with one should not be compared against the other.

What is absent from this blend matters as much as what is in it

Two other blends in this catalogue contain the same full-length thymosin beta-4 alongside a copper coordination complex. Both carry a specific warning about that pairing, because copper is redox-active and the protein carries a methionine at position 6. Methionine is the classic target for metal-catalysed oxidation, and the sulfoxide product has the correct sequence, a mass sixteen daltons higher, and altered behaviour that a coarse chromatographic method will not separate from the parent.

This blend contains no metal. BPC-157 carries no oxidation-sensitive residue at all, and with no copper complex sharing the container the methionine on the thymosin has nothing to react with. The concern that governs handling on the copper-containing blends does not arise here.

There is a second and simpler consequence. The copper blends are deep blue, and that colour saturates the whole unit and masks the appearance of everything else in it. This powder is white, so visual inspection remains a usable first-pass check in a way it is not on the coloured products. That is a small advantage but a real one, and it costs nothing to state.

Equal by mass is not equal in molecules

The two components are supplied at the same nominal quantity and the certificate reports them at similar measured amounts. In molecules they are nothing like equal, because one is a fifteen-residue peptide and the other a forty-three residue protein three and a half times heavier.

Calculated from the mean content figures for this lot. Roughly one to one by mass becomes roughly four to one in molecules. Anyone reading this as a balanced two-way combination is working from the wrong figures; do the conversion before designing around it. That said, four to one is a far narrower spread than the copper-containing blends in this catalogue, where the ratio runs past sixty to one.

What a fixed two-component unit means for experimental data

Nothing can be varied. With two compounds fixed in one powder there is no way to change one input while holding the other constant, and no way to run a single-component control. Any observation from this material is an observation about this mixture at this proportion. It cannot be attributed to either component and cannot be compared against published work on either individually.

Both components are available separately in this catalogue, and a design that needs to attribute an effect requires that format rather than this one. Note also that the standalone TB-500 listing is the short fragment, not the protein in this blend, so it is not a single-component control for this material. The comparator you would need is full-length thymosin beta-4 on its own.

Two components do not degrade on one schedule. BPC-157 has no oxidation liability and is about as robust as a short peptide gets. Thymosin beta-4 is a forty-three residue protein carrying a methionine, more susceptible to oxidation and to interfacial effects. These two do not share a shelf life, and the proportions reported above describe the lot at the time of testing rather than at any later point.

Published literature and regulatory status

There is no literature on this combination. No published study has examined these two compounds together, in any system, at any proportion. Each has a separate record, neither of which transfers to a mixture, and any inference drawn from single-component work about this material is an inference rather than a finding. The BPC-157 listing in this catalogue carries an indexed and linked bibliography; that work was conducted with the single compound, not with this blend.

United States Neither component is approved by the FDA for any indication. Neither is on the section 503A bulk drug substances list.
Advisory committee On 23 July 2026 the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted to recommend both BPC-157 and TB-500 for inclusion on the 503A list, each by eight votes to six with one abstention, over the recommendation of the agency's own reviewers.
What that does not do A committee recommendation is advisory and non-binding. Inclusion requires separate notice-and-comment rulemaking, which has historically taken a year or more and has not always followed a favourable vote. Glutathione cleared the same committee in June 2022 and is still not on the codified list four years later. Neither compound is approved, neither is lawfully compoundable, and the vote does not make either a medicine.
