How to verify research peptides

To verify a research peptide, match the lot number on the vial to a certificate of analysis for that exact lot, confirm the certificate comes from an independent laboratory, and check that it reports the observed mass, HPLC purity and net peptide content. Verification tied to the vial itself, such as an NFC tag that opens the live certificate, removes guesswork.
Before you buy: questions for any supplier
- Is there a certificate for every lot? Ask to see the one for the lot you would receive, not a sample.
- Who tested it? The laboratory should be named and independent of the seller.
- Which molecule is it? Ask for the observed mass. This matters most for names like TB-500 that cover more than one molecule.
- How much is in the vial? Look for net peptide content, not only purity.
- What was not tested? A clear testing scope is a sign of an honest certificate.
After delivery: check the vial
Read the lot printed on the vial and open the certificate for that lot. The two must match exactly. Check the appearance against the certificate (most lyophilized peptides are a white powder), and keep the certificate with your laboratory records so results can be traced to the lot used.

Why lot-level verification matters
Purity and content vary from lot to lot. A figure from a previous batch says nothing about the vial on the bench. Lot-level certificates, reported by an independent laboratory and linked to the physical vial, are the only way to know what was actually supplied.
