Lyophilized peptide storage

Updated September 24, 2026

Lyophilized (freeze-dried) research peptides are stable at ambient temperature during shipping, and are stored long term at -20 °C, protected from light, in a tightly closed container. Once in solution a peptide is materially less stable, is kept at 2 to 8 °C protected from light, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles are avoided.

Dry powder versus solution

Why sequence matters

Some residues make a peptide more fragile. Methionine, cysteine, tryptophan and tyrosine are oxidation-sensitive, so sequences that contain them need more care with air and light. Sequences without them, such as BPC-157 and the TB-500 fragment, lack those liabilities, but ordinary aqueous hydrolysis still applies in solution. Each Verum product page states the oxidation-sensitive residues for that compound.

Arrival and records

Transfer vials to frozen storage on arrival, keep them away from light, and record the lot number against the certificate of analysis so any result can be traced to the material used.

What Verum does not provide

Preparation conditions are the responsibility of the receiving laboratory. Verum provides no protocol, no preparation instruction and no guidance on use. Storage guidance on each product page is for the material as supplied.

Frequently asked questions

Do lyophilized peptides need to be shipped cold?

No. Lyophilized peptides are stable at ambient temperature during shipping and short-term handling. Long-term storage is at -20 °C.

How should research peptides be stored long term?

As dry lyophilized powder at -20 °C, protected from light, in a tightly closed container.

Are peptides stable in solution?

Much less than as dry powder. Solutions are kept at 2 to 8 °C, protected from light, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles are avoided.
